British American Tobacco (BAT), a Fortune 500 company has implemented V3 application (Siebel based). The application involves its sales force synchronizing data from over 60 remote sites in Nigeria back to the central server located at the Data Center (facilities provided by Direct On PC).The Disaster Recovery is set up at Victoria Island in Lagos.
The sales team has a defined daily route and a hand held unit on which the sales transactions are recorded. This handheld information is transferred via VSAT (Intranet Mode) from the remote sites back to the central server at Data Center in Lagos. The data is mirrored or replicated at the back Up Server at BAT, H.O ( Victoria Island) thru the backhaul link on Fixed Wireless Access. Additionally, they have an ERP (Navision) that is also centrally located.
DOPC has provided following services to BAT for the Project:
Akintola Williams Deloitte They have Head Office at Lagos and branches at Portharcourt and Abuja. They have following applications to perform between the locations-VOIP, Microsoft Exchange, Practice Management Software and Auditing Software.

Intranet for applications- VSAT on I-direct Platform with pool bandwidths to be shared between Abuja and Portharcourt. This is single hop solution with latency of 580-600 m.s

Backhaul on Fixed Wireless Access- The H.O at Lagos is connected using Fixed wireless Access

VOIP- DOPC has provided Voice Adapters (OKI) for making point-to-point Voice Calls/fax

VPN- DOPC has provided additional hardware (Netscreen) to carry out 128-bit encryption for security purpose.

Internet Connectivity- DOPC has provided dedicated Internet bandwidth at H.O on SAT-3 backbone
MRS Oil Nigeria Plc (formerly Texaco Chevron Plc) They have 30 Depots & Area offices spread all over Nigeria. They need Intranet for their tailor-made software application that consumes very low bandwidth and very low data usage. The bandwidth is not latency dependent. They also need Internet for exchanging mails. They need a solution where the running cost is very less.

· VSAT at 30 remote sites on TDMA platform connected to Overseas Internet Backbone
· VSAT at Head Office is on dedicated connectivity to Overseas Internet backbone.
· VPN device (Netscreen) at all sites for security
· VOIP device (OKI) at all sites to make voice calls
