1 British American Tobacco
British American Tobacco (BAT), a Fortune 500 company has implemented V3 application (Siebel based). The application involves its sales force synchronizing data from over 60 remote sites in Nigeria back to the central server located at the Data Center (facilities provided by Direct On PC).The Disaster Recovery is set up at Victoria Island in Lagos.
The sales team has a defined daily route and a hand held unit on which the sales transactions are recorded. This handheld information is transferred via VSAT (Intranet Mode) from the remote sites back to the central server at Data Center in Lagos. The data is mirrored or replicated at the back Up Server at BAT, H.O ( Victoria Island) thru the backhaul link on Fixed Wireless Access. Additionally, they have an ERP (Navision) that is also centrally located.

DOPC has provided following services to BAT for the Project:

  • Data Center facilities
    • Co-location of Servers , Firewall devices & Storage Area Network (SAN)
    • Performance Monitoring Reports of servers
    • Cold back up’s on tapes.
    • Mirroring & Online back up at BAT,H.O thru Back haul link
    • Disaster Recovery Management
  • WAN Connectivity
    • VSAT connectivity at 89 locations (Star Mode) with single hop (580-600 m.s)- Pooled Bandwidth with defined CIR & MIR at each location
    • Back Haul link on Fixed Wireless Access between H.O & DOPC Hub/Data Center.
  • Internet Connectivity on SAT-3 Backbone
  • Prioritization & QOS- DOPC has set the prioritization & QOS at each site for different applications of BAT
2 Akintola Williams Deloitte
They have Head Office at Lagos and branches at Portharcourt and Abuja.
They have following applications to perform between the locations-VOIP, Microsoft Exchange, Practice Management Software and Auditing Software.
DOPC has offered following services to Deloitte:
  • Intranet for applications- VSAT on I-direct Platform with pool bandwidths to be shared between Abuja and Portharcourt. This is single hop solution with latency of 580-600 m.s
  • Backhaul on Fixed Wireless Access- The H.O at Lagos is connected using Fixed wireless Access
  • VOIP- DOPC has provided Voice Adapters (OKI) for making point-to-point Voice Calls/fax
  • VPN- DOPC has provided additional hardware (Netscreen) to carry out 128-bit encryption for security purpose
  • Internet Connectivity- DOPC has provided dedicated Internet bandwidth at H.O on SAT-3 backbone

3 Toyota Nigeria Plc
They have Head Office at Lagos and branches at Portharcourt, Abuja and Eket.
They have following applications to perform between the locations- Microsoft Exchange and Navision (ERP)

DOPC has offered following services to Toyota:
  • Intranet for applications- VSAT on I-direct Platform with pool bandwidths to be shared between Abuja, Portharcourt & Eket. This is single hop solution with latency of 580-600 m.s
  • Backhaul on Fixed Wireless Access- The H.O at Lagos is connected using Fixed wireless Access

4 Chams Nigeria
Chams Nigeria Plc is in the business of deploying Electronic Kiosks all over Nigeria. The Kiosk has multiple facilities like browsing, Voice calls, Bill Payments etc. The Central Server is located in Lagos.
DOPC has provided following Services to Chams:
  • Intranet in Lagos- All the Chams POS terminals at Lagos are connected on Fixed Wireless Access (Non Line of Sight). The latency offered is approx 50 m.s.
  • Intranet for Upcountry Locations- VSAT’s on I-Direct Platform is connected at each site to offer reduced latency (550-600 m.s).
5 Texaco Nigeria Plc
They have 35 sites that are Depots & Area offices spread all over Nigeria. They need Intranet for their tailor-made software application that consumes very low bandwidth and very low data usage. The bandwidth is not latency dependent. They also need Internet for exchanging mails. They need a solution where the running cost is very less.
DOPC has provided following services to Texaco
  • VSAT at 34 remote sites on TDMA platform connected to Overseas Internet Backbone
  • VSAT at Head Office on SCPC platform connected to Overseas Internet backbone.
  • VPN device (Netscreen) at all sites for security
    VOIP device (OKI) at all sites to make voice calls

The billing for all the remote units is based on data usage The running cost is very low for Texaco as the data consumption is bare minimal.
